You're here because you care about your privacy. As the people who build and use Coppice ourselves, privacy is central to everything we do. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information to provide our service:

Account information — your name and email address when you create an account.
Connection data — information about people you add to Coppice, including names, notes, and interaction history. This data is entered by you.
Usage data — information about how you use the app, such as features accessed and general interaction patterns, used to improve the product.
Device information — device type, operating system version, and identifiers used for crash reporting and support.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

To provide and operate the Coppice service.
To personalise your experience — for example, generating AI suggestions based on your connection data.
To send notifications you have opted in to receive.
To improve the app based on usage patterns.
To respond to support requests.

We will never sell, share, or distribute your personal data or connection data to any third parties, except as described in this policy or as required by law.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored using Google Firebase (Firestore), a widely-trusted cloud infrastructure provider. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Firebase is operated by Google and subject to their security standards. Learn more at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

4. AI Processing

Coppice uses OpenAI to power its AI assistant features. When you send messages to the AI or use voice features, relevant context (such as your message and connection data) is sent to OpenAI's API for processing. This is used solely to generate responses to your queries and is not used to train OpenAI's models. OpenAI's data processing is governed by their Privacy Policy.

5. Subscriptions

Subscription payments are handled through Apple's App Store. We do not store or process your payment card details. Subscription management is subject to Apple's terms.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account). Upon account deletion, all your data — including connections, messages, and journal entries — is permanently removed from our systems.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. To make a request, contact us at hello@coppicewellbeing.com.

8. Children

Coppice is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the app or by email. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
