Courage Horizon

AI agents for small and high street law firms

AI for solicitors: new matters that do not stall on paperwork.

An AI agent asks each new client for ID and documents and reminds until they arrive, sends a plain-English update at each stage of the matter, and chases the bills. Every message waits for a fee earner’s approval, or goes in wording a fee earner approved. It works through your own email and the case management system you already have.

A few minutes, free, and it is also your application for cohort one. See an example report first.

What eats the week in a small firm

A new conveyancing matter opens and sits for a week waiting for photo ID, proof of address and the source of funds. The client is sure they sent it. The secretary emails again. The chain moves on without you, and the client rings to ask why nothing has happened, which takes a fee earner off a file to explain.

The “any update?” call is a job in itself. On a purchase, a probate or a divorce, clients ring because they have heard nothing, and a two-minute update takes ten by the time the file is open and the attendance note written. The time is not billable and the client is still anxious.

Then the month end: unbilled time, bills that went out late, and the client who always pays on the second reminder, if someone remembers to send it.

Jobs an agent can take

  • A new matter stalled for a week waiting on ID.

New matter Asks for everything up front and reminds until it arrives.

  • Clients ringing to ask "any update?"

Client updates Sends a plain-English update at each stage, approved by you.

  • Website enquiries sitting unanswered until someone is free.

Enquiry desk Replies the same hour and books a first call.

  • Unbilled time and unpaid bills at the end of the month.

Invoice chaser Reminds clients and shows you who is late.

It works alongside LEAP, Clio and your case management system

Your matters live in LEAP, Clio, Actionstep, Osprey or Quill, and your client onboarding and ID checks run through Thirdfort, Legl or whichever you use. None of that changes. An agent works through your own email and reads the list it needs: the matter, the client, the documents outstanding, the stage. The file stays the record.

The first job is usually the new-matter document chaser

Set up with you on the phone, live in two weeks, every message approved by your firm.

  1. 01 You give us the list of what a new matter needs before work starts: ID, proof of address, source of funds, the signed client care letter.
  2. 02 You approve the welcome message and each reminder, and where the documents should be filed.
  3. 03 A new client gets the request the day the matter opens, a reminder on the days you set, and a thank you when everything is in. Nothing is sent until you have approved the wording.
  4. 04 What arrives is filed to the matter and marked for your team to verify. A client’s question goes to the fee earner with the thread attached.
  5. 05 Each Friday you see which matters are ready to start and which are still waiting on the client, before anyone rings to ask.

Your agents, on one chart.

Hub Operations sets each agent up with you on the phone, hands work between them and your team, and shows what each one finished this week. Add an agent, pause one, or ask for a change in plain words. It is the same screen we run our own company from.

What solicitors ask first.

Does the client’s data go into a chatbot?
The agent reads the matter list you give it and the replies to its own messages, nothing else. The Hub is hosted in Frankfurt; the text an agent works on is processed by an AI provider in the EU or the United States and the Hub shows you which; and the privacy policy names every company involved. We agree what each agent may read before it is switched on.
Can a fee earner approve every message?
Yes, and that is the default: every message waits for a person. Once you trust a particular agent’s wording you can let it send reminders on its own, and the record shows which agents you have allowed that for.
Will it draft legal documents?
No. It does the chasing, the updates and the admin around a matter. The legal work stays with your fee earners.
How long before it is working?
Two weeks from the call to the first agent switched on, set up with you on the phone. Your first week is free. Setup is free for the five businesses in cohort one; otherwise it is £1,500, refunded in full if you do not switch it on.
What does it cost each month?
£149 a month for your Hub, with as many agents as you need and £25 of AI use included. Above that you pay for the AI your agents use, in pounds, under a monthly limit you set, and nothing can spend past it.
